Mixing Criteria

Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.02 for colour uniformity (visual defects visible above CoV 0.05). Velocity limited to <1 m/s for shear-sensitive pigment agglomerates. Wide turndown as colour machine speed varies. Inline colorimetry for real-time correction.

Typical Viscosity
0.5–500 cP (centipoise) (carrier and dye liquor)
Reynolds Number (Re)
Re 100–50,000 (laminar to turbulent)

Material & Special Requirements

Preferred MOC: 316SS for aqueous dye streams. FRP for corrosive reactive dye chemistry (high-pH or acid dye at temperature). Injection quill in 316SS or Hastelloy.

Velocity limit <1 m/s to protect shear-sensitive pigment agglomerates. Inline colorimetry probe 3–5D downstream for real-time colour feedback. KE for turbulent aqueous dye streams; SX for viscous dye concentrates or high viscosity-ratio systems.

Recommended Mixer
KE Series — Helical Element
Kenics-equivalent. 180° RH/LH helical elements joined at 90°. Halves striation thickness per element. Works laminar to turbulent. Best general-purpose choice.
