STATIC MIXER FOR CHLORINATION & DISINFECTION

Static mixers for chlorination ensure uniform disinfectant contact across the full pipe cross-section. Uneven distribution creates pathogen-bypass zones that compromise CT compliance. Both Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution and Cl₂ gas applications are covered.

Mixing Criteria

Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.05 at mixer discharge. Concentration × Contact Time (CT) product (concentration × contact time) must meet regulatory minimum. For Cl₂ gas: gas-to-liquid ratio must remain <0.05 to avoid slug flow. Injection velocity ratio 2:1 minimum.

Material & Special Requirements

Preferred MOC: 316SS for Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution. FRP for Cl₂ gas concentrations >5 mg/L (milligrams per litre). Hastelloy C-276 for wet chlorine or high-concentration hypochlorite.

Multi-port injection nozzle for DN>300 to improve initial distribution. KE-R or VN open geometry preferred for Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) to prevent crystallisation in dead zones. Wide turndown (10:1) — verify CoV at minimum flow.
