STATIC MIXER FOR COOLING WATER CHEMICAL TREATMENT

Continuous or intermittent dosing of scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and biocides into cooling water circuits. Uniform distribution prevents localised scaling on heat exchangers.

Mixing Criteria

Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.05 at distribution header entry. Slug dosing for biocides: size mixer for peak slug flowrate and verify CoV at minimum continuous flow. Wide turndown as tower load varies.

Typical Viscosity
0.8–3 cP (centipoise) (cooling water)
Reynolds Number (Re)
Reynolds Number (Re) 2,000–200,000 (turbulent to transitional)

Material & Special Requirements

Preferred MOC: 316SS standard for most cooling chemicals. FRP for halogenated oxidising biocides. Avoid zinc-based materials if aluminium heat exchangers present.

KE-R removable elements for biocide-free periods (fouling inspection). Injection quill mandatory for low-ratio chemical dosing. Non-return valve on injection line to prevent siphoning.

Recommended Mixer
KE Series — Helical Element
Kenics-equivalent. 180° RH/LH helical elements joined at 90°. Halves striation thickness per element. Works laminar to turbulent. Best general-purpose choice.
