STATIC MIXER FOR BIOCIDE & OXYGEN SCAVENGER INJECTION

Injection of biocides (glutaraldehyde, THPS) and oxygen scavengers (sodium bisulphite, DEHA) into produced and injection water. Localised under-dosing allows MIC growth and Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) souring.

Mixing Criteria

Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.05 at minimum 3D downstream. Slug dosing (intermittent): mixer must achieve Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.05 at the slug injection flowrate (typically 2–10× base flow). Continuous O₂ scavenger: stoichiometric dose control vs. dissolved oxygen.

Typical Viscosity
0.5–5 cP (centipoise) (injection/produced water)
Reynolds Number (Re)
Reynolds Number (Re) 2,000–100,000 (turbulent)

Material & Special Requirements

Preferred MOC: 316SS standard. Duplex 2205 for Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) sour service. NACE MR0175 compliance for Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) service. PTFE-lined injection quill for glutaraldehyde.

Injection point upstream of all dead legs in the system. KE-R removable elements for inspection. NACE MR0175 compliance for Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) service. Non-return valve on injection line essential.

Recommended Mixer
KE Series — Helical Element
Kenics-equivalent. 180° RH/LH helical elements joined at 90°. Halves striation thickness per element. Works laminar to turbulent. Best general-purpose choice.
