STATIC MIXER FOR DEMULSIFIER & PRODUCTION CHEMICAL INJECTION

Dispersion of demulsifiers into crude oil-water emulsions ahead of electrostatic treaters and separators to accelerate water droplet coalescence.

Mixing Criteria

Coefficient of Variation (CoV) ≤0.05 at entry to production header. Demulsifier must contact the bulk emulsion flow — not the water bottom or gas space. Injection upstream of any mixing valve to exploit mixing energy already available.

Typical Viscosity
5–500 cSt (centistokes) (crude emulsion)
Reynolds Number (Re)
Reynolds Number (Re) 2,000–100,000 (turbulent)

Material & Special Requirements

Preferred MOC: Carbon steel or Duplex 2205 per Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) content. NACE MR0175 for sour service. Centreline injection quill in 316SS or Hastelloy.

Injection quill at centreline in bulk flow zone. Injection upstream of mixing valves to leverage valve pressure drop. NACE MR0175 for Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S) service. Demulsifier overdosing causes emulsion re-stabilisation — dose optimisation via jar tests.

Recommended Mixer
KE Series — Helical Element
Kenics-equivalent. 180° RH/LH helical elements joined at 90°. Halves striation thickness per element. Works laminar to turbulent. Best general-purpose choice.
